Houston, TX --Southern's
Jaden Towner hits three, three-point baskets in the fourth quarter but the Jaguars falls short in the SWAC Conference opener to Texas Southern 61 - 56 at the
H&PE Arena on the campus of Texas Southern University.
Towner got the hot hand in the fourth quarter hitting back-to-back three-point baskets finishing the night with 16 points and seven rebounds off the bench.
Alyric Scott shot a perfect 5-of-5 from the charity stripe and finished the night with 11 points and two assists. Sophomore
Taneara Moore led the Jaguars in rebounding with seven.
Southern (2-10, 0-1) went into the locker room trailing, 22-21. SU shot 32 percent for the game (17-for-54) and 42 percent from three-point range (5-12). The Jaguars shot 59 percent from the free-throw line (17-29). Southern turned over Texas Southern 29 times picking up 27 points off turnovers.

Southern closes out the Texas swing at Prairie View A&M on Monday, January 6th at 5:30 PM. The Lady Jaguars return home for Alumni weekend as they take on the Grambling State Tigers, Saturday afternoon 1/11/20 at 3 PM in the F.G. Clark Activity Center.
Due to the College Football National Championship game, Southern and Jackson State along with the SWAC office agreed to move up Monday's game to a 1 PM tip-off.
