BATON ROUGE, LA -- Southern picks up its fourth straight SWAC conference win as the Jaguars defeated Alabama State Saturday night 80-71 at the F.G. Clark Activity Center.
Southern had five Jaguars finish in double figure scoring, led by Senior
Darius Williams who finished with a game high 14 points and six rebounds. Senior
Amel Kuljuhovic added 13 points and six rebounds. Junior
Brendon Brooks chipped in 12 points and four assist off the bench along with Sophomore
Isaiah Rollins who contributed 10 points in 13 minutes of play, going 3-of-3 from downtown. Junior
Montese Blake also came off the bench and helped the Jaguars extend the lead in the first half scoring 10 points in eight minutes of play. Junior
Ahsante Shivers finished the night with nine points and four rebounds and Junior Lamarucs Lee contributed eight points and three rebounds.
Southern outscored ASU bench 32-12 and went into the locker room leading 42-30. SU shot 62 percent for the game (27-for-44) and 53 percent from three-point range (9-17). The Jaguars shot 74 percent from the free-throw line (17-23).
Southern is 7-13, 4-3 SWAC
