ITTA BENA, MS -- Southern Basketball picked up its third straight SWAC conference win as the Jaguars hold off the Devils 74-70 Monday afternoon at the Robert W. Harrison Complex on the campus of Mississippi Valley State.
Junior
Ahsante Shivers led SU with a game high 15 points. Senior
Darius Williams also added a season and career high of 15 points. Grad transfer
Micah Bradford added 14 points and five rebounds. Senior
Amel Kuljuhovic finished the night with 11 points and five rebounds. Freshman
Damiree Burns led all rebounders with eight and finished with six points. Williams contributed six rebounds, Bradford and Kuljuhovic each added five rebounds. Junior Lamarucs Lee contributed nine points, game high five assist and three rebounds.
Southern went into the locker room tied with MVSU 34-34. SU shot 47 percent for the game (23-for-49) and 30 percent from three-point range (6-20). The Jaguars shot 65 percent from the free-throw line (22-34).
Southern's record is 6-13, 3-3 SWAC

Southern returns home and will host Alabama State on Saturday, January 25th at 5:30 PM. The game theme is BREC/YMCA Night and on Monday, January 27th the Jaguars will host Alabama A&M at 7:30 PM on Sophomore night.
