BATON ROUGE, LA -- Southern picks up its first SWAC conference win of the season on Monday afternoon as they outlasted Jackson State 56-50 at the F.G Clark Activity Center.

The Jaguars had seven out nine players land in the scoring column. Southern went into the locker room leading 31-25. SU shot 42 percent for the game (22-for-52) and 27 percent from three-point range (3-11). The Jaguars shot 82 percent from the free-throw line (9-11). SU had the lead for 23:10 of the game that featured 10 lead changes and was tied seven times.

The Jaguars go back on the road to face University of Arkansas Pine Bluff Saturday evening at 7:00 PM at H.O. Clemmons Arena on the campus of UAPB.
