Jaguars reeling heading into two game tilt vs. LSU

Southern University baseball will look to regroup following a disappointing weekend in conference play when the Jaguars face the streaking LSU Tigers in consecutive days this week.

After dropping 2-of-3 from the weekend series against Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Southern will make its Wally Pontiff Jr. Foundation Classic debut Tuesday at 7 p.m. against the No. 1 ranked Tigers (Baseball America) at Zephyr Field in Metairie. The Jaguars and Tigers will meet again Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in Alex Box Stadium as originally scheduled.

Cox Sports Television will air both games live and live stats for each game will be available on gojagsports.com and lsusports.net.

Redshirt freshman and Baton Rouge native Camilo Godoy (RHP, 0-2, 7.11 ERA)  will start Tuesday's game in Metairie. In Godoy's previous appearance, the 6-0 right hander gave up seven runs - five earned - and seven hits to Louisiana-Lafayette in 2.2 innings of work.

In the Jaguars home series against UAPB, Southern struggled defensively committing five errors and failed to score runs stranding 24 runners, including 12 in Sunday's series-clinching 8-1 loss at Lee Hines Field.

Southern returns to SWAC play after the LSU double-dip when the Jaguars journey to Houston and the MLB Urban Youth Academy at Sylvester Park to face Texas Southern in a three-game series April 13-14.
