Final Stats

The Southern Jaguars closed out the regular season last night with a 51-61 loss to the Prairie View A&M Panthers at the William J. Nicks Building on the Prairie View campus.

Jamie Floyd led the Jags with 12 points and seven rebounds, while Hannah Kador added nine points and eight rebounds.

Prairie View A&M's Dominique Smith, Siarra Soliz and Latia Williams combined for 48 points as the Lady Panthers.

Prairie View took a 27-20 lead into the half, as the Panthers used a 6-0 spurt at the end of the half to expand the PV lead.

The game took an ugly swing - no pun intended, when Prairie View forward Robin Jones drove down the court on a breakaway steal, late in the game, and Southern's Tiffany Foster fouled her hard from behind, setting off a pushing and shoving match that may or may not have included a PV player throwing a punch.

Foster was ejected on the play, which calls for an automatic one-game suspension. She and PV guard Siarra Soliz were also called for technical fouls.

With the ejection, Foster must sit out Southern's opening round game in this week's SWAC Tournament against the #8 seed, Alabama State.

The loss was Southern's second in the last three games, and the Jags must now regroup and get refocused for the second season - The 2011 SWAC Tournament.

The Jags will enter the Tourney as the SWAC's #1 seed.
