Final Stats
The Southern University Jaguars clinched the SWAC Regular Season Title when they defeated the Texas Southern University Tigers 60-59 in a thriller in Houston, Texas.
Southern overcame a 29-24 halftime deficit to win the game.
With Texas Southern leading 56-48 with 3:13 remaining, SU's Freda Allen scored the Jaguars' next seven points to pull the Jaguars to within two points, at 59-57.
Down 57-59, SU's Hannah Kador tied the game with a jumper with 13 seconds remaining, and after two missed free throws by Texas Southern's Gabrielle Rosiji with 10 seconds left, the Jaguars Jamie Floyd secured the rebound and passed it out to Hannah Kador where she was fouled with 2 seconds left.
Kador hit one of two free throws for the win.
Hannah Kador finished with 15 points to lead the Jaguars, with Freda Allen scored 14 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Jamie Floyd had a huge night, scoring 13 points and pulling down a game high 20 rebounds.
TSU's NaDosha Strickland scored 20 points, while Jasmine Cannon had 15 points, 6 assists and 2 steals and Gabrielle Rosiji had 10 points.
The SWAC regular season championships marks the first time the Jaguars have won back to back championships.
Southern will wrap up the regular season on Saturday when they face the Panthers of Prairie View A&M.
