JAGUARS MAUL BULLDOGS, 76-51

Dec. 19, 2010

Final Stats

The Southern Jaguars overcame a sluggish start, and backup center, Jamie Floyd scored a career high 25 points to lead SU to a 76-51 win on Saturday at the Mini Dome.

Southern's win against the NAIA Lady Bulldogs (5-9) snapped a four-game losing streak. Jamie Floyd hit 12 of her 13 shots from the floor, and she and Freda Allen each had a game-high 12 rebounds. Hannah Kador added 20 points, including 14 points in the first half.

Southern took a 38-27 halftime lead, thanks in large part to their massive rebounding advantage (38-27) and 13 second-chance points. SU also used a late 7-0 run to go up 11 at the half.

The Jaguars defense improved in the second half, putting more pressure on Tougaloo's guards and holding the team to 19 percent shooting after halftime.

Southern U. point guard, Carneta Henderson, saw her first extensive action of the season after recovering from back surgery. "Woo" finished with four points, three rebounds, five assist and one block.

Portia Craft had a team-high 18 points for Tougaloo, while Victoria Jones added 12 points and Erica Grayson had 11 rebounds for the Lady Bulldogs.

Southern faces Nicholls State at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in its final nonconference game of the season and last game of 2010.
