PITTSBURGH -- Southern wide receiver Juamorris Stewart, along with Grambling defensive lineman Melvin Matthews of Clinton and defensive back Jeffrey Jack were named to the 2008 SBN Sports Black College All-American (BCAA) Team announced Monday.
Hampton, Jackson State and South Carolina State each had three players selected to the team.
Stewart, a former Istrouma standout, was the only unanimous selection to the 2008 All-SWAC team after finishing the season with 76 catches for 1,385 yards and 12 scores.
Matthews had 34 tackles, including 19 for loss. He also led Grambling with eight sacks.
For the second consecutive year Tuskegee quarterback Jacary Atkinson was named SBN/Doug Williams Offensive Player of the Year and was the only repeat player to make the team.
Jackson State linebacker Marcellus Speaks was named SBN/Mel Blount Defensive Player of the Year, while Prairie View coach Henry Frazier was named SBN/Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year.

The 2008 SBN Sports Black College All-American Team and 2008 SBN/Jake Gaither Black College National Champion Grambling will be honored at the 35th Annual SBN Sports Black College All-American Awards dinner on Saturday, Feb. 14 at the Omni William Penn Hotel in Pittsburgh.
