Southern University's Johnathan Malveaux has been named SWAC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against Misssissippi Valley State on Saturday night. Malveaux totaled 12 total tackles (eight solo, four assists) along with one tackle for loss and one sack as Southern downed Mississippi Valley State 31-14.
