Redshirt freshman quarterback, Bryant Lee, rushed for a career high 102 yards and two touchdowns, while throwing for a career high 138 yards and one touchdown, as the Southern Jaguars kept their slim hopes alive for a trip to Birmingham and the SWAC Championship game, with a 24-17 homecoming win over Texas Southern.

Running back Kendall Addison topped the 100 yard mark for the second time this season with a career high 133 yards on 26 carries, and one touchdown.

Texas Southern opened the scoring in the first quarter with a rushing score, and added a 31 yard field goal to put the Jags down 10-0 heading into the second quarter.

Junior quarterback JC Lewis (3 for 5, 44 yds) went down early in the second quarter, making a block on a reverse, and suffered a contusion to his left throwing arm forcing him out of the game.

Seeing action for the second time this season, Lee stepped in and took control of the Jags offense, and after a Breck Ackley 27 yards field goal, Lee scampered in for a one yard touchdown with :49 left in the first half to tie the game at 10-10 heading into the break.

Texas Southern took a 17-10 lead with 11:13 left in the third quarter when the Tigers blocked a SU punt and returned it for a touchdown.

Southern would regroup, and lee marched the Jags back down the field, and hit Gerard Landry with a 2 yard pass to tie the game at 17-17.

After stopping the Tigers on their next possession, Lee marched the Jags down the field in four plays, going 50 yards, and topped if off with a nifty 28 yard quarterback draw, to put the Jags up for good, 23-17.

The fourth quarter was all Southern Dog Day Defense, as the Jags defense scored twice, on two safeties, one by Ricky Nevers tackling a Tiger runner in the endzone, and Vincent Lans doing the same later in the quarter.

Kendall Addison finished off the homecoming win with a 29 yard rushing touchdown with 2:28 remaining, to give the Southern Jaguars a 34-17 win.

SU exploded for 418 yards of offense, and the Jags defense had four takeaways.

Defensively, DB Glenn Bell led the Jags with 11 tackles (9 solo, 2 assists, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and one sack), while DE Vincent Lands had two sacks, one for a safety.
