LADY JAGUARS EXTEND STREAK TO FOUR

Oct. 28, 2005

Final Stats

Baton Rouge, LA -- The Southern University Lady Jaguars soccer team extended their win streak to four as they defeated the Lady Braves of Alcorn State University 5-1.

Southern (4-8, 4-5 SWAC) has won their last four games of the season and is the hottest team in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. Freshman Almarie Soto-Ortiz had the best game of her young career as she recorded a hat trick putting in three goals on the day. Senior Khrystania Pindle scored two goals on the same day that SU recognized their three seniors playing in their last home game. The other seniors starting today's game was Jennifer Johnson, a midfielder from Opelouses, LA and LaToya Harvey, defender from Donaldsonville, LA.

"I am really happy the ladies have decided to peak at this point in the season," said interim head coach John Knighten. "We could have played better and avoided the yellow cards today. If we want to win the SWAC tournament we know we will have to clean it up."

The Lady Jaguars will have three days to prepare for the SWAC tournament as they will practice on Sunday, October 30th through Tuesday, October 1st. They will then travel to Grambling, LA on Wednesday, October 2nd, for the 3rd annual SWAC soccer tournament.
