SU'S THOMAS RICKS EARNS 100% WRONG CLUB OF ATL'S PLAYER OF THE YEAR

-- The post-season awards for Southern
University senior quarterback, Thomas Ricks, keep on coming. Ricks has been named the 100% Wrong Club of
Atlanta, GA's SWAC & Black College Football Offensive Player of the Year.
Ricks
finished of a terrific senior season by leading the Southern Jaguars to an 8_4
overall record and second consecutive trip to the SWAC Championship Game. "TR" led the Jaguars in rushing, with 694 yards
and 9 touchdowns on 144 carries and finished the 2004 season with the second_best passing season in Southern University history
(2,786 yards and 24 Td's). The 6-4, 220
pound LaPlace,
LA.
native, led the SWAC in total offense, total offense TD's and total offensive
yards, while finishing 6th in the SWAC in rushing, and 7th in scoring
(TD'S). Ricks also had four 100-yard rushing games
in the last five games. "TR" threw for
5 touchdowns in a game, twice this season, and threw for 3 touchdowns three other
times. He also had a hand in 3,566 yards
and 34 TD's -- along with four successful fourth-quarter rallies. To top that, he also caught 1 pass for a 55 yard touchdown
versus Alabama
State.
Thomas ranked 10th in NCAA I-AA in total offense; 42nd in
NCAA I-AA in Passing Efficiency and 98th in rushing.
His
honors include: Five-time SWAC Offensive Player of the Week, Two-time Louisiana
Sports Writers Player of the Week, Two-time ESPN/USA Today National Player of
the Week honors, SWAC Offensive Player of the Year, 1st team All-SWAC.
