Jeremy Bonin enters his fourth season as an assistant coach at Southern in 2020-2021 and 19th year of coaching.

In his first season on the Southern sideline he helped guide the Lady Jags to the 2017-18 SWAC Regular Season Championship and a WNIT Postseason appearance finishing the season 17-14 (14-4). The 2018-19 season followed suite under first year Head Coach Carlos Funchess as the Lady Jags won the 2018-19 SWAC Regular Season Championship, 2019 SWAC Tournament Championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance finishing the season 20-13 (14-4).

For the past five years, Bonin has been coaching at New Iberia Senior High School in New Iberia, Louisiana. He Helped lead them to 2 quarter final appearances and their first LHSAA Top 28 appearance in 20 years in the 2013-14 season. Also, in the last five years he has helped guide 8 young women to play collegiately. Most notably, Kierra Anthony of Louisiana Tech, all-league performer and Moesha Kinard of Lamar, All-League performer.

Prior to New Iberia Senior High School, Bonin was assistant at Trinity Valley Community College in Athens, TX. While under the direction of Michael and Kenya Landers, Bonin helped the Lady Cardinals back to the top of NJCAA. Trinity Valley went 70-3 in two seasons. They won 2 conference championships, 2 Regional – 14 conference Championships and played in National Championship games each year. In 2011, he helped Trinity Valley to a 36-0 record and a National Championship. That team included, NJCAA National Player of the Year Sha'Kayal Caples and Kodak All-American Kenna Flax.

Before Trinity Valley, Bonin assisted Michael Landers in starting Baton Rouge Community College Women's Basketball program in 2009-2010. In the first year of the program's existence, Lady Bears went 22-6, won the Miss/Lou Conference Championship and was Region 23 runner-up.

He began his coaching career in New Iberia where he coached for 7 years before leaving to head to Baton Rouge Community College.

Coach Bonin along with President Todd Russ of the Iberia Parish Biddy Basketball Association, helped to grow the organization to one of the biggest programs in the state.
