Martiese Morones enters his third season as an assistant coach at Southern University.

Morones spent three season as a graduate manager for the Morehead State men's basketball program. He assisted with practice planning, game preparation and various administrative duties during his time with the Eagles.

While at Morehead State they reached the 20-win plateau for just the sixth time in school history and postseason play for just the ninth time. The Eagles appeared in the College Basketball Invitational (CBI).

He played in 41 career basketball games over two seasons at Texas Christian University. He averaged 3.8 minutes as a freshman in 2006-07 and 8.5 minutes as a sophomore in 2007-08.

Martiese transferred to Kentucky from TCU. He did not play basketball for the Wildcats, but graduated from UK in 2012 with a bachelor's degree in sociology.

Morones spent his first year of high school at Lexington Catholic (Ky.). He helped the 2001-02 Knights to a No. 10 national ranking and Kentucky High School Athletic Association State Championship.

A 6-foot point guard, Morones finished his prep career at Millersburg Military Institute (Ky.), where he averaged 14.0 points and 8.0 assists as a senior. MMI was rated No. 27 in the country that year by HoopsUSA.com.

Morones is the son of Sean and Dashaynia Woods. His father, a member of the University of Kentucky Athletic Hall of Fame, currently serves as the head men's basketball coach at Southern.
