Todd Lyght is entering his first season on the Bluff as Defensive Coordinator.

He brings elite playing and coaching experience to the collegiate level, built on a football journey that began in Flint, Michigan and reached the highest stages of the sport.

A two-time consensus All-American at Notre Dame, Lyght was the fifth overall pick in the 1991 NFL Draft and played 12 seasons in the NFL with the Rams and Lions, earning Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors while helping the St. Louis Rams capture Super Bowl XXXIV.

Following his playing career, Lyght transitioned into coaching, developing defensive backs at Bishop Gorman High School, Oregon, the Philadelphia Eagles, Vanderbilt, and Notre Dame. He has coached in major bowl games and NFL playoffs and is known for his ability to mentor young defensive backs and prepare them for success at the next level.

A Notre Dame alumnus, Lyght remains committed to leadership, development, and service, including establishing scholarships benefiting students at Notre Dame and schools in his hometown.

He is married to Stefanie and has one daughter Luca and son Logan.
