Davasia Jones

Davasia Jones joined Southern University’s athletics staff in July of 2022 serving as the Director of Strength and Conditioning for Football. Davasia is a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana earning his bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Human Performance at Southeastern Louisiana University in 2017.

Coach Jones comes to the bluff after previously serving as the Seasonal Intern Strength and Conditioning Coach for Football at Louisiana State University (LSU), where he served under Tommy Moffitt. While at LSU, Jones assisted in overseeing the Tiger’s lifting, running and mobility training programs specifically for the defensive backs group. Jones also used philosophy-based training systems, such as (perch global position systems), and heart rate monitors (polar technology) to collect, monitor, and report findings in athletics trainings and help athletics monitor physically mechanical outputs. 

Prior to LSU, Jones spent 3 years in the private sector working for numerous companies within the Baton Rouge and New Orleans area. Jones also spent 3 ½ years interning at Southeastern Louisiana University working with 15 different sport teams within the Lion’s athletic organization. Jones holds several certifications including Level- 1 sports performance coach in USA Olympic Weightlifting (USAW-L1) and Certified Strength Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and conditional Association.
