Beginning his coaching journey as a graduate assistant at Southern University under the mentorship of Hall of Fame Coach Pete Richardson, he honed his skills and laid the foundation for a remarkable career. His time as a player on Southern University's championship teams as a pivotal member of the vaunted “Dog Day D”, securing three consecutive SWAC Championships and Black College National Championship and an undefeated three-year conference record, provided invaluable experience that shaped his coaching philosophy.
Coach Miller's tenure as a high school defensive line and linebacker coach, along with his stints as a defensive coordinator, equipped him with a deep understanding of the game's intricacies.
