Coach Damarcus "BooBoo" Miller, a 2023 Southern University Sports Hall of Fame inductee, is a true embodiment of excellence, both on and off the field, boasting a distinguished career spanning over two decades. Beginning his coaching journey as a graduate assistant at Southern University under the mentorship of Hall of Fame Coach Pete Richardson, he honed his skills and laid the foundation for a remarkable career. His time as a player on Southern University's championship teams as a pivotal member of the vaunted “Dog Day D”, securing three consecutive SWAC Championships and Black College National Championship and an undefeated three-year conference record, provided invaluable experience that shaped his coaching philosophy.

Coach Miller's tenure as a high school defensive line and linebacker coach, along with his stints as a defensive coordinator, equipped him with a deep understanding of the game's intricacies. His commitment to discipline, fundamental play, and a winning attitude has been instrumental in his players' success, both on and off the field. Notably, he has sent players to the professional level, showcasing his expertise in developing elite defensive linemen.

Whether it's indulging in his passion for golf, capturing moments through photography, or sharing his culinary creations with loved ones through BooBoo's Barbecue, Coach Miller embodies a balanced approach to life that reflects his values of dedication, family, and faith. With a vision to bring a championship back to his alma mater and a commitment to representing the Kingdom of God in all that he does, Coach Miller's dedication to his mission to inspire the next generation remain unwavering as he enters his third year as Defensive Line coach at Southern University. His legacy continues to grow through his three children shared with his wife, ensuring that the native Houstonian, 1996 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in Houston, Texas, extends influence far beyond the football field.
