Southern University

Coach Lepak

Brian Lepak

Brian Lepak is entering his first season on The Bluff as the offensive line coach and run game coordinator.

Lepak, 32, comes to Southern from the University of Oklahoma where he served as the offensive line graduate assistant for the past three seasons. Prior to working at OU, Lepak worked in the same role at Indiana from 2014-2016.

During his time at OU, Lepak assisted Coach Bill Bedenbaugh in coaching an offensive line that paved the way for multiple national award winners including two Heisman trophy winners and helped lead the team to three consecutive Big 12 Championships and College Football Playoff appearances. In 2018, the offensive line was awarded the Joe Moore Award for the nation’s most outstanding offensive line unit.

Throughout his young career, Lepak has been associated with explosive offenses. In addition to the record-setting offensive units at Oklahoma, the Indiana teams he coached featured a 2,000 yard rusher in Tevin Coleman and only the fourth FBS team in history to feature two 1,000 yard rushers, a 3,500 yard passer, and a 1,000 yard receiver in the same season. He has worked with some of the top offensive minds in college football in Kevin Wilson and Lincoln Riley, and plans to bring some of the elements of their high octane offenses to The Bluff.

Lepak, a Claremore, Oklahoma native, played two seasons for Colorado State before transferring to Oklahoma where he spent three seasons playing center and guard, including for the 2010 Big 12 Championship team. At Oklahoma, he twice won the Derrick Sheppard Award for Most Inspirational Walk On and was a second team ESPN and CoSIDA Academic All American.

After completing his playing career, Lepak was awarded the Dr. Prentice Gautt Postgraduate Scholar Award and attended law school at the University of Oklahoma College of Law where he was a member of the Oklahoma Law Review. He graduated in 2014, and was admitted to the Oklahoma Bar Association the same year. In addition to his law degree, he has dual degrees in Accounting and Finance from the OU Price College of Business where he was the Outstanding Senior in Accounting.

Lepak and his wife, Colleen, have two children, Thomas and Penelope.
