2021 Season
Starting in 43 out of 45 games, Taj averaged .280 batting with 42 hits, 24 RBI’s, 38 runs and 6 home runs. He won 2^nd team all-conference catcher in 2021 and won the SWAC Championship here at Southern in 2021.

Attended Northlake Christian School where he won all district his junior and senior year.
            
Personal
Born on June 3, 1998 to Ricky and Carla Porter, Taj Porter is from Mandelville, LA where he was a part of the Williamsport Crosscutters (MLB Draft League). His brother Niko Porter plays baseball at Notre Dame.  Although his father played football, baseball, and ran track at Slippery Rock University and went on to play NFL for 10 years, Taj felt like “the opportunity to play college HBCU baseball close to home” was his reasoning to come to Southern where he is currently majoring in sociology. His favorite memory is when he hit a homerun against his former school, University of Louisiana.
