Dr. Jessica Robinson enters her second year as Director of Sports Medicine at Southern University.

Dr. Robinson is originally from Columbus, Georgia and graduated from W.H Spencer High School. After graduation, Dr. Robinson attended Grambling State University and received her Bachelor’s degree in Biology, she was one of the first female student athletic trainers working under the late Rickey McCall. After graduation, she went to the United States Sports Academy in Daphne, Alabama and received her Masters of Sports Science Degree in Sports Medicine.
 
As an Athletic trainer, Dr. Robinson had the opportunity to work at Grambling State University and Waco High School in Waco, TX. Taking a few years off from Athletic Training, Dr. Robinson had the opportunity to work in various areas to learn in the ins and outs of being a great director. She has worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield Customer Service Rep, Hillcrest Hospital as a Pharmacy Technician and Columbus Technical College as an Adjunct Instructor.
 
While working at Grambling State University as the Head Athletic Trainer, Dr. Robinson furthered her education and obtained her Doctorate in Psychology with a concentration in Sports and Performance. 
 
Before coming to Southern University as the Director of Sports Medicine, Dr. Robinson worked at Grambling State University as the Head Athletic trainer for eight years, Thibodaux Regional Hospital for seven years and Children with Autism for two years.
 
Dr. Robinson has a well-rounded background and exemplifies leadership characteristics and holds Certifications, Memberships and License in Athletic Training with the Louisiana Athletic Trainer Association (LATA), Certified Pharmacy Technician, Certified in Title IX, and Certified in Diversity Equity and Inclusion DEI in the workplace, Suicide Prevention Specialist and National Athletic Trainer Association (NATA) membership in many area.
