Biography

Vaterra Ann Calais was born on October 30, 1996. She is the daughter of Terry and Virginia Calais. Her younger sister is Terralynn Marie Calais. Vaterra grew up in St. Martinville, Louisiana. She loves eating crawfish and spending time with friends and family. She has been playing volleyball in the 5th grade. She played club volleyball for 5 years with Cajun Elite in Lafayette, Louisiana. She is entering her Senior year, majoring in Elementary Education. Vaterra was named First Team All-District, First Team Best of the Teche, and Varsity Volleyball Captain Sophmore through Senior Year. She was also the MVP of her high school team. Along with these athletic accomplishments, she also graduated with a 3.5 GPA (Honors). Continuing to be a strong student-athlete, Calais received 2015 SWAC All-Academic Team Honors and then was nominated as 2016 Pre-season 2nd Team All-SWAC Setter. Over the course of her three years as a Lady Jag, Calais has played in 312 games recording a total of 89 aces, 493 digs, and 1593 assists.
