BATON ROUGE, La. — After opening the 2026 season on the road, the Southern University volleyball team returns to Baton Rouge for its home opener on Tuesday, hosting Southeastern at 6 p.m. inside the Horace W. Moody Intramural Sports Complex.
 
The Lady Jaguars and Lions have met 24 times, with Southeastern earning the victory in last season's matchup. Southern has recorded two wins in the all-time series, earning its first victory over the Lions in 2016 with a 3-1 win in Hammond before picking up its second victory at home in 2018 in a five-set thriller.
 
Southern enters Tuesday's matchup after opening the season against three challenging opponents at the Gamecock Classic. The Lady Jaguars faced Jacksonville, Southern Miss and Jacksonville State during the opening weekend.
 
Offensively, Southern was led by Sereniti Johnson, Paulina Agudelo Marin and Mariah Mott. Johnson paced the Lady Jaguars with 23 kills, while Agudelo Marin added 17 and Mott finished with 16. Penina Vito directed the Southern offense with 56 assists during the weekend.
 
The Lady Jaguars also recorded 12 service aces at the Gamecock Classic, led by Reagan Robinson with three. Najah Harris and Johnson added two aces apiece.
 
Defensively, Harris led Southern with 33 digs, while Johnson added 20. At the net, Agudelo Marin and Braelynn Reese combined for nine total blocks as the Lady Jaguars look to continue building momentum heading into their home opener.
