BATON ROUGE, La. — Southern University volleyball continues Southwestern Athletic Conference play on the road this weekend, traveling to Texas for a pair of conference matches against Prairie View A&M and Texas Southern.

The Lady Jaguars will face Prairie View A&M on Friday at 6 p.m. before traveling to Houston to take on Texas Southern on Sunday at noon.

Southern and Prairie View A&M have met 65 times previously, with the Panthers holding a 48-17 advantage in the all-time series. The Lady Jaguars earned their most recent victory over Prairie View at home in 2022, while their last win in Prairie View came in 2016.

Sunday's matchup with Texas Southern will mark the 67th meeting between the two programs. The Tigers hold a 40-26 advantage in the all-time series. Southern's most recent victory over Texas Southern came in 2024, while the Lady Jaguars last won in Houston in 2023.

Najah Harris enters the weekend following another standout performance and her third consecutive Southwestern Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week honor. Harris led the conference in both digs and digs per set for the third straight week.

Harris helped lead Southern to a 2-1 record during the week, recording 53 digs while averaging 4.82 digs per set. After leading the nation in total digs and ranking third nationally in digs per set during the previous reporting period, Harris ranked sixth nationally in total digs and 59th in digs per set during the latest reporting period.

Southern opened the week with a five-set victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff to begin SWAC play. After falling behind 2-1, the Lady Jaguars responded by dominating the final two sets to secure the conference victory.

Sereniti Johnson recorded her second consecutive double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs while adding four aces and three blocks.
Zaria Nelson led Southern with 11 kills while hitting .292 for the match.
Penina Vito directed the offense with 34 assists, while
Maleah Faust added 13 assists.

Harris anchored the defensive effort with 20 digs, while
Reagan Robinson contributed seven kills and 13 digs.
Braelynn Reese was a force at the net, finishing with eight total blocks, including two solo blocks.

The Lady Jaguars then dropped a straight-set decision to Grambling State. Johnson continued her strong play with her third consecutive double-double and fourth in the last five matches, recording 11 kills and 11 digs while adding an ace and a block.

Braelynn Reese and Robinson added five kills apiece, while Vito led the offense with 22 assists. Harris once again paced the defensive effort with 21 digs, marking her second consecutive match with at least 20 digs.
Paulina Agudelo Marin added a team-high three blocks.
