Southern Dominates Florida A&M On Thursday Evening

BATON ROUGE, LA— Southern used a decisive third quarter and dominant bench production to pull away for an 80–61 victory over Florida A&M on Thursday night at the F. G. Clark Activity Center.

Southern led from start to finish, taking a 36–21 advantage into halftime before outscoring Florida A&M 26–16 in the third quarter to put the game out of reach. The Jaguars pushed the margin to as many as 30 points in the fourth.

Olivia Delancy scored a game-high 20 points to lead Southern, while Zaria Hurston added 14 points and Mykayla Cunningham chipped in seven points and five assists. Southern's bench accounted for 45 points as the Jaguars improved to 15–11 overall and 11–4 in conference play. Southern controlled the paint and the glass, out-rebounding Florida A&M 46–24 and scoring 26 second-chance points. The Jaguars also forced 19 turnovers and converted them into 23 points.

Bench Production
Southern's reserves dominated, outscoring Florida A&M's bench 45–16. The constant wave of fresh bodies kept the tempo high and wore down the Rattlers.

Control of the Glass
The Jaguars owned the paint and the boards, finishing with a commanding rebounding edge that fueled 26 second-chance points and limited Florida A&M to one-and-done possessions.

Third-Quarter Separation
Coming out of halftime, Southern delivered its best stretch of the night, shooting efficiently and forcing turnovers to turn a 15-point lead into a runaway.
