BATON ROUGE, LA -- Southern exploded for 10 runs in the fifth inning and used relentless pressure on the bases to earn a 13–1 win over Southern University at New Orleans on Tuesday.

Southern opened the scoring in the first on a wild pitch and added another in the third before extending the lead in the fourth on an RBI single by Glenn Green III. The Jaguars broke the game open in the fifth, sending 12 batters to the plate and capitalizing on timely hits, walks, hit batters, stolen bases, and wild pitches to build a commanding lead.

SUNO scored its lone run in the top of the fifth when J. Geraldo doubled to score A. Spriggs.

On the mound, Caiden Stewart earned the win with four shutout innings, allowing one hit while striking out seven. The bullpen combined to hold SUNO scoreless the rest of the way.

Offensively, Southern was led by KJ White Jr. (3-for-4, two RBI), Glenn Green III (two hits, three RBI), and Kenyon Hughes (two hits, RBI). Southern finished with 10 stolen bases, applying constant pressure throughout the game.

"Our guys did a great job staying aggressive and forcing the issue," said Coach Crenshaw. "We played with energy on both sides of the ball, and that fifth inning really showed the way we want to compete."
