Southern Complete Season Sweep Over Texas Southern With 66–54 Victory

HOUSTON, TEXAS— The Southern University Women's Basketball team got back into the winning column by completing a season sweep over Texas Southern, with a 66–54 victory at the Health & Physical Education Arena.

Southern led for more than 36 minutes and used a decisive third quarter to create separation after taking a 29–22 lead into halftime. The Jaguars outscored Texas Southern 19–13 in the third and stretched the advantage to as many as 17 points in the fourth quarter.

Olivia Delancy scored 20 points to lead all scorers, shooting 8 of 10 from the field and 4 of 6 from 3-point range. Jocelyn Tate added nine points, seven rebounds and five steals, while Zaria Hurston finished with seven points and six rebounds.

The game swung firmly in Southern's favor in the third quarter, where the Jaguars outscored TSU 19–13 behind hot shooting and defensive pressure. Southern hit all three of its three-point attempts in the period, extending the lead to 48–35 heading into the final frame. Texas Southern made a push in the fourth, but Southern answered each run to secure the rivalry win.

Southern's bench accounted for 41 points, compared to 14 for Texas Southern, and the Jaguars capitalized on turnovers throughout the night.

Aaliyah Henderson and Taliyah Logwood scored 12 points apiece for Texas Southern (9–15, 5–7 SWAC).
