BATON ROUGE, La. — Southern University used balance, defensive pressure, and dominant interior play to pull away from Arkansas-Pine Bluff en route to an 80–65 victory Saturday afternoon at the F.G. Clark Activity Center. After a brief early deficit, the Jaguars controlled the tempo for nearly the entire game, leading for more than 37 minutes and pushing the margin to as many as 22 points.
Southern set the tone early with a 23–11 first quarter and never looked back. The Jaguars steadily built their advantage with strong play in the paint, forcing turnovers and getting consistent contributions up and down the lineup. UAPB made several runs, including a 23-point fourth quarter, but Southern's cushion was never seriously threatened.
DeMya Porter led the way for the Jaguars with a game-high 19 points on an efficient 9-of-11 shooting, anchoring Southern's inside presence. Olivia Delancy added 16 points, while Jocelyn Tate chipped in 10 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double. Southern finished the afternoon shooting over 52 percent from the field and outscored UAPB 50–26 in the paint.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff was paced by Indiya Bowen (15 points) and Jailah Pelly (14 points), but the Golden Lions struggled to keep up with Southern's depth and physicality.
