Jags Sweep Mississippi Valley In Dominating Fashion

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • SU got off to a slow start, falling behind 12-7 after the first six innings.
  • Jags changed pitchers in the seventh inning to change the game's tone. The Jags scored four runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to close the game to pick up the first game of the series.
  • Banks pitched the final three innings, seeing ten batters give up no runs and only one hit.  
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Southern finished the day with fifteen hits, and MVSU finished the day with thirteen hits.
  • Southern finished the game with four errors, while Mississippi Valley finished the game with only one error.
  • Southern left eight runners on base, while MVSU left ten.
  • Southern struck out seven times, and Mississippi Valley struck out ten times.

  • Jags finished the day with twenty RBI's, led by junior outfielder Kameron Byrd with four.
  • Ranard Grace pitched a complete game, seeing twenty-three batters, giving up only two hits and striking out ten batters.

  • Nick Luckett pitched the Jaguars' second straight complete game on Sunday afternoon, seeing twenty-six batters, only giving up four hits on the day.

UP NEXT
The Jaguars will be back in action this weekend as they head to Houston to take on Texas Southern for a three-game series starting Friday at 3 PM, Saturday at 2 PM, and Sunday at 1 PM. All games will be played at McGregor Park.
