Southern Dominated Prairie View On Saturday Afternoon

BATON ROUGE, LA --Southerns' Soniyah Reed led all scorers with 19 points on Saturday afternoon as they dismantle Prairie View by 44 to move into first place in SWAC play. Final from the mini dome was 86-42.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Jags opened the game with a 18-4-2 run over the Lady Panthers to outscore them 25-6 in the first quarter, 25-6. 
- The Jags continued their dominance outscoring Prairie View 11-7, to take a twenty-three point lead at the first half, 36-13.
- The Jaguars pick up right where they left off in the first half outscoring them 24-13 to taker a thirty-four point lead to close out the third quarter, 60-26. 
- The Jags continued their dominance outscoring Prairie View by 10 points, 26-16 to close out the game beating PV by 44 points to move into first place in conference play with five games left. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Jaguars went 32-of-58 shooting from the field (55.2 percent) and 8-of-19 from 3PT (42.1 percent).
- SU was led by Soniyah Reed (8-16 FG, 3-5 3PT) finished the night with 19 points and a game-high eight rebounds in twenty-four minutes of play. Jocelyn Tate (5-5 FG, 1-1 3PT, 4-4 FT) was perfect on the night scoring her career-high 15 points, four boards and three                                 steals. D'Shantae Edwards (5-9 FG, 3-3 FT) added fourteen points and three steals. Aniya Gourdine (4-6 FG, 2-4 3PT, 2-2 FT) chipped in twelve points along with seven assists.
- All eleven Jaguars played scored in the contest with four finishing the night with double digits.
- PVAMU shot 15-of-41 from the field (36.6 percent) and 4-of-16 from 3PT (25.0 percent). 
- Southern pulled down 29 rebounds, including 21 on the defensive side of the glass, led by Reed with a game-high eight rebounds
- The Lady PANTHERS registered 18 rebounds, with 13 coming on the defensive end. 
- The Jaguars also went 14-for-16 from the free-throw line. '
- The Lady Panthers sank 8-of-17 from the charity stripe.
- Southern University finished the night with fifteen steals and twenty-four assists, led by DaKiyah Sanders with six assists and Gourdine with a game-high seven assists.
- Prairie View A&M University came away with only one steals and eleven assists.

The Jaguars will be back in action on Saturday afternoon as they travel North Louisiana to take on the Lady Tigers from Grambling State University at 2 PM. The will be streamed live on SWAC Digital Network.
