BATON ROUGE, La. — Southern University delivered a wire-to-wire statement on Friday morning, overwhelming Southern University New Orleans 84–34 at the F.G. Clark Activity Center in a dominant non-conference victory led by sophomore sensation DeMya Porter.
Porter was nearly flawless, scoring 18 points on a perfect 9-for-9 shooting in just 18 minutes of play, while adding eight rebounds as Southern (4–5) cruised to its largest margin of victory this season. The Jaguars jumped out early and never looked back, leading for 38:32 of game time and building the advantage to as many as 50 points in the fourth quarter.

Southern seized control from the opening tip, holding SUNO to just 6 points in the first quarter while erupting for 23 of its own. Porter scored six early points in the paint as the Jaguars rattled off a 16-0 run late in the opening period to establish a 23–6 cushion.
The momentum carried into the second quarter, where Southern's depth took over. The Jaguars forced 25 turnovers on the day and repeatedly converted them into easy baskets, pushing the halftime lead to 43-20. By the end of the third quarter, Southern had stretched the margin to 63-29, effectively putting the game out of reach.
Southern closed strong in the fourth, outscoring SUNO 21–5 and showcasing its bench, which accounted for 41 points.
