BATON ROUGE, La. – For the first time on record, Southern University defeated Florida A&M, earning a four-set victory on Sunday evening inside Seymour Gymnasium, 14-25, 25-18, 25-22, 25-23, in Southwestern Athletic Conference play.

The Jaguars (7-12, 4-3 SWAC) dropped the opening set but quickly found their rhythm to control the remainder of the match, securing their fourth conference win of the season.
Â

Bailee St. Romain followed with five kills on a .400 clip, and
Sereniti Johnson contributed six kills in a balanced offensive effort. Setter

After Florida A&M (3-14, 1-5 SWAC) jumped ahead early, Southern regrouped in the second set behind Brown and Johnson, building an early lead and holding off the Rattlers to even the match at one set apiece. The Jaguars carried that momentum into the third, trading points throughout before pulling away late behind key kills from St. Romain and solid defensive play for a 25-22 win.
Â
The fourth set was a thriller, featuring multiple lead changes before Southern closed strong. The Jaguars' defense came up with three crucial blocks during a six-point rally, and St. Romain's decisive swing sealed the 25-23 victory to complete the comeback.
