Men’s Basketball Edges Out Wildcats 69-53

BATON ROUGE | Dionjahe Thomas double-double helped Southern University men's basketball team (9-8, 4-0 SWAC) edge Bethune-Cookman (5-11, 2-1 SWAC) 69-53 Monday night at the F.G. Clark Activity Center.

Forward Dionjahe "DT" Thomas led the Jaguars with a season and game-high 15 points and 13 rebounds to get his first double-double in a Southern uniform. Jordan Johnson contributed 10 points and three rebounds. Puoch "PJ" Dobuol finished with nine rebounds.
 
Daniel Rouzan had a game-high 15 points to help pace the Wildcats.
 
GAME NOTES
  • Southern shot 38.8 percent (26-of-67) from the floor, 23.5 percent (4-of-17) from behind the arc and 59.1 percent (13-of-22) from the charity stripe
  • The Jaguars grabbed 43 rebounds, with 13 coming off the offensive glass
  • Dionjahe Thomas recorded his first double-double at SU with 15 points and 13 rebounds, one block
  • Jordan Johnson added 10 points and PJ Dobuol finished with nine rebounds and two blocks. 
  • Southern finished with 40 points in the paint, 32 bench points, 19 second-chance points, 14 points off 15 BCU turnovers, and 11 fast break points
  • Bethune-Cookman went 20-of-59 shooting (33.9 percent), 11-of-18 (61.1 percent) from the charity stripe and 2-of-13 (15.4 percent) from three point
  • The Wildcats grabbed 36 rebounds
  • Daniel Rouzan scored game-high 15 points
  • Bethune-Cookman finished with 26 points in the paint, 14 bench points, 11 points off 10 SU turnovers, 10 second chance points and 10 fast-break points

Southern will be back in action when they host Grambling State on Saturday 1/18. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. or will start 30 minutes after the girls game
