Southern Drops Weekend Series To Nicholls

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • SU got off to a slow start offensively falling behind fast giving up four runs in the first three innings.
  • NSU scored five runs in the sixth inning to fully put the game out of reach for the Jaguars.
  • Grace pitched five innings seeing 18 batters throwing 90 pitches on the day. 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Southern finished the night with three hits and NSU finished the night with eight hits.
  • Southern finished the game with only one error, while Nicholls State finished the game with no errors.
  • Southern left six runners on base, while NSU left only two.
  • Southern struck out eight times and Nicholls State struck four times.

  • Both Southern and Nicholls finished the night with only one error each.
  • Southern left seven runners on base, while NSU left five.
  • Both Southern and Nicholls struck out seven times. 
  • Five different Jaguars batters recorded a hit. KJ White led the Jags with two hits, while Kameron Byrd, Michael Latulas, Ryan Ollison and Caleb Tart finish the day with one hit each.

  • SU battled back in the bottom of the eighth inning to pick up five runs to close the gap to 3 runs going into the ninth inning.
  • NSU scored runs in multiple innings and was able to hold off the Jags comeback in the bottom of the ninth inning.
  • Lasseigne pitched five innings seeing 27 batters giving up ten hits and six runs.

  • Southern finished the night with seven hits and NSU finished the night with fifteen hits.
  • Southern and Nicholls finished the game with two errors each.
  • Southern left six runners on base, while NSU left ten.
  • Southern struck out four times and Nicholls State struck six times.
  • Marcus Sanders picked up the Jags first run of the day in. the eighth inning off a single to the right field wall by Quincy Smith II. 
  • Seven different Jaguars batters recorded a hit. Kameron Byrd, KJ White, Dylan Jones, Ryan Ollison, Caleb Tart, Sanders and Smith II finish the day with one hit each.

The Jaguars will be back in action this weekend for a three-game series against Alabama State University Friday, March 8th at 6 PM, Saturday, March 9th at 3 PM and on Sunday, May 10th st 1 PM.
