PRAIRIE VIEW, TX | The Southern University Women's Soccer team got off to a fast start in the 2024 SWAC Championship game, scoring the games only goal in the first sixteen minutes of the contest. Then went into an all out defensive effort for the final 74 minutes of the game to claim the programs first ever SWAC Championship and punch their ticket to the 2024 NCAA D1 Women's Soccer Championship. Final Score from Prairie View, TX was 1-0.

"All season we talked about playing a full 90 minutes, and today the ladies came out fired up and ready to go", said Head Coach Jeremy Fontenot. "They brought the energy, put in the work, and got the job done with the intensity from start to finish!"

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Jags found the back of the net at the 16th minute mark of the contest.
• SU came out with fresh legs and alot of energy to keep Texas Southern off balance all day long
• Senior Taylor Henry scored the games lone goal off an assist from Alyssa Romero

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• Texas Southern University would have a 10-7 advantage on shots over the Jaguars.
• The Jaguars finished with the advantage on shots on goal at 5-4
• Southern and Texas Southern would finish with four saves each.
• SU finished the day with two corner kicks, while TSU finished the day with five
