MEMPHIS, TN – Southern University opened the 20th season with a 6-0 defeat to No. 20 Memphis at the Billy J Murphy Track and Soccer Complex on Thursday night.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Tigers went on the attack early, scoring goals within the first six minutes.
- Memphis found the back of the net again in the 23rd minute to take a 3-0 lead into halftime.
- Alyssa Terry would get the only shot of the game for Southern with a shot towards the top of the net in the 36th minute.
- The Tigers would get three more goals in the second half at the 52nd, 74th, and 90th minute.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Memphis would have a 22-1 advantage on shots.
- The Tigers would have a huge advantage on shots on goal at 12-1.
- Southern would finish with six saves, compared to one by Memphis.
- Memphis finished with 13 corners, compared to zero by Southern.
