HAMMOND, LA – The Southern University track & field teams are down to the homestretch of the outdoor regular season and are looking to improve their marks at the Strawberry Relays on Saturday in Hammond, Louisiana.
Field events are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. with the women's hammer throw. The steeple chase will also begin at 9 a.m. for the running events. That will be followed by the 4x100 at noon.
Last time out, Southern had multiple athletes jump in the east region standings with seven event wins.
Clydeterrious Thompson currently ranks 55th in the 100m with a time of 10.46 from the Pelican Relays.
Trinity Bolden sits 87th on the women's side with a time of 11.76 from the Jim Mize Invitational.
DeAnthony Nervis finds himself at 36th in the 200m with a time of 20.93 from the Battle on the Bayou at LSU.
Nicholas Scott jumped from 22nd to 16th after shaving over a second off his 800m time at the Pelican Relays. Scott has a time of 1:48.89.
Rushane Miller joined Scott in the rankings after running a 1:49.99 to move him into 34th.
The 110m hurdles has been a strong event for
Jordan Thompson this season. Thompson currently finds himself 37th with a time of 14.07 from the Battle on the Bayou.
Jordan Thompson also is ranked 41st in the 400m hurdles with a time of 52.89 at the Texas Relays.
Camille Lewis sits 51st in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:00.41 at the Texas Relays.
Sierra Session moved into 94th with a time of 1:02.47 at the Pelican Relays.
The men's 4x100 team of
Derick Washington,
Clydeterrious Thompson,
Jordan Thompson and Nervis are sitting at 45th with a time of 40.69 ran at the Battle on the Bayou. Washington, Nervis,
Clydeterrious Thompson and
Austin Willis ran a 40.73 at the Pelican Relays to sit at 57th. The team of Nervis,
Jerun Wagner, Washington and
Clydeterrious Thompson have a time of 40.99 to rank 73rd.
In the 4x400, the team of
Clydeterrious Thompson, Scott,
Ta'Cardrick Alexander and
Jordan Thompson sit 47th with a time of 3:12.83 from the Battle on the Bayou.
Shani Simon,
Trinity Kirk, Lewis and Session ran a time of 3:48.24 at the Pelican Relays to move into 85th.
Kevon Hamilton and
Demarion Sowell are ranked in the triple jump. Hamilton sits 40th with a distance of 48 feet 9 inches from the Battle on the Bayou. Sowell has a distance of 47 feet 0.75 inches for 86th in the same meet.
Azariah Foster had a distance of 39 feet 10.75 inches to win the event at the Pelican Relays that moved her into 67th.
