SAN MARCOS, TX – Southern University finished a busy weekend on the track at the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas.
Keenan Villery got things started for Southern on Thursday in the javelin. Villery finished 12th overall with a distance of 155 feet two inches on his first throw.
On Friday,
A'ja Gore throw of 43 feet 8 inches twice in the shot put to finish tied for sixth.
Lawrenee' Hart threw a distance of 39 feet.
Char'Vares Wilson would achieve a new personal best of 50 feet 6 inches on the men's side to finish fifth. Villery would get another 12th place finish with a distance of 46 feet 5 inches.
Nicholas Scott ran at the Texas Relays and made the trip to the Bobcat Invitational on the same day to run the 800m. Scott would finish 16th with a time of 1:53.58.
Saturday saw Southern finish with two more events.
Gore returned for the hammer throw and finished with a distance of 146 feet 1 inch.
Kevon Hamilton continued to excel in the triple jump. Hamilton would finish in fourth place with a jump of 47 feet 8.5 inches.
UP NEXT
Southern will host the Pelican Relays on April 8. The running events will be held inside A.W. Mumford Stadium and the field events will be held in Jaguar Park between Mumford Stadium and the Minidome.
