HOW IT HAPPENED
- USM got on the board first by way of a three-run home run.
- Southern Miss. added seven more in the second when a basses loaded error score two. That was followed by a single to score another, another three-run home run and a single that scored one.
- The Golden Eagles scored seven more in the fourth off their third three-run home run, a 2 RBI single, a double and a sacrifice fly.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Southern Miss. outhit Southern 10-0.
- Both teams committed one error.
- Southern left one runner on base, while Southern Miss. left two.
- The Lady Jaguars drew one walk and struck out five times.
- Alana Mark and McKenzie Ogden were the only Lady Jaguars to reach base. Mark reached on an error in the second and Ogden drew a walk in the fourth.
- Ten different Southern Miss. batters recorded a hit. Natalie Taylor, Lorna Agren and Alexis Dittmer accounted for the home runs.
UP NEXT
The Lady Jaguars return to action as they host the Mardi Gras Classic from February 17-19 at Lady Jaguar Field. Action kicks off at noon on Friday, with Southern's first game schedule for 4 p.m. Southern will take on Eastern Illinois, Arlington Baptist, Alabama State and Jackson State.
