Waco, TX -- The defending SWAC Champions opened up their 2023-24 season on the road at Baylor, picking up their first loss of the season in front of 3,570 fans inside the Ferrell Center on the campus of Baylor University. Final score was 85-53.
HOW IT HAPPENED
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Jaguars went 22-of-58 shooting from the field (37.9 percent) and 6-of-13 from 3PT (46.2 percent).
- SU was led by Reed (6-12 FG, 5-7 3PT) finished the day with 17 points.
- Taylor Williams (5-9 FG, 1-2 FT) chipped in eleven points on the day for the Jags.
- Eight Jaguars scored in the contest.
- BU shot 31-of-59 from the field (52.5 percent) and 8-of-24 from 3PT (33.3 percent).
- Southern pulled down 26 rebounds, including 22 on the defensive side of the glass.
- The Lady Bears registered 42 rebounds, with 34 coming on the defensive end.
- The Jaguars also went 3-for-6 from the free-throw line.
- The Lady Bears sank 15-of-24 from the charity stripe.
- Southern University finished the night with two steals and seven assists.
- Baylor University came away with six steals and nineteen assists.
