Record Season Ends in SWAC Semifinals for Lady Jaguars

PRAIRIE VIEW, TX – Southern University finished the season the same way the same way they played all year, setting records and fighting until the end. Even though the Lady Jaguars fell to Grambling State University, 3-1, Friday night in Prairie View, Texas, they set another school record by finishing .500 for the first time in school history. This comes the day after they set or tied two other marks, most wins in a single season and tied the most wins by a coach.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Grambling got on the board early in the first half. Towards the end of the 14thg minute, the Lady Tigers sent a corner into the box where Mackenzie Rastatter would put them up 1-0.
  • Three minuets later, GSU would get their second goal off a rebound.
  • GSU would take a commanding lead in the 27th minute when another Lady Tiger found the back of the net.
  • The Lady Jaguars would have eight opportunities to score in the first half but only two would be on target.
  • Southern would continue to fight and would cut the deficit to 3-1 when Cordney Armstrong found Khari Price for the score in the 74th minute.
  • The Lady Jaguars would get two corners and two more shots in the final 16 minutes but could not put anything through.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Grambling would have a 14-12 advantage on shots.
  • The Lady Tigers would have a slight edge on shots on goal, 5-4.
  • Southern would finish with two saves, compared to three by GSU.
  • Both teams would finish with five corners.
