BATON ROUGE, LA. – The Lady Jaguars (2-2) pitched their second shut out of the season by defeating the Centenary Ladies (0-1) by a score of 5-0 Friday afternoon at Jaguar Park.
Southern got things started early with two goals in the first five minutes. Junior
Kaitlyn Hale got her first goal of the season off an assist from
Giftee Tor in the third minute.
Tor came back a minute and half later to make it 2-0.
Victoria Thomas scored in the 23
rd minute with an assist from
Alayla Jackson to end the scoring for the first half. The Lady Jaguars out shot the Ladies 6-4 and had possession for 65 percent of the first half.
"We knew coming into the game, we were bigger and stronger. We had to put our game into the mix" , said Coach
Jeremy Fontenot. "We have been working all week on playing defense."
The second half was the same story as Southern cruised to the win.
Krystal Elie and
Brekel Tibbs added the two goals in the 82
nd and 84
th minute respectively.
In total the Lady Jaguars had a total of 18 shots compared the 9 by the Ladies. Overall, 14 different Southern players had a shot in the game.

The Lady Jaguars will be back in action on Wednesday, September 8
th, when they travel to College Station, TX to take on Texas A&M.
