PRAIRIE VIEW, TX -- The Southern University men's basketball comeback fell short Thursday night as they fell to Prairie View 68-61 at the William J. Nicks Building.
The Jaguars were led by
Samkelo Cele who finished with 21 points and eight rebounds.
Jayden Saddler added 14 points, five assist, five rebounds while
Kirk Parker had a team high 12 rebounds.
SU found itself trailing 13-4 to open the game before the Jags went on a 12-3 run capped off by
Brendon Brooks made jumper tied PV 16-16 with 8:03 left to play in the first half. After Brooks converted a 3-point play SU took a 29-24 lead with 2:34 before the half. PV finished on an 8-0 run taking a 32-29 lead into the locker room.
The second half started very similar to the end of the first half as both teams traded baskets and each went on runs. Saddler made free throws cut into the Panthers lead 42-40. The closest the Jags would get was withing five points, 65-60 after
Terrell Williams basket in the paint with 1:59 left to play in regulation.
Prairie View (13-4, 12-0 SWAC) were led by Jawaun Daniels with 15 points. D'Rell Roberts finished with 13 points, Jerimiah Gambrell added 12 points and Cam Mack had 11.

Southern will face off with Texas Southern on Saturday, March 6 at 3:00 pm for the final game of the regular season.
