BATON ROUGE, LA. -- The Southern University women's soccer team defeated the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Lady Lions 2-1, Sunday afternoon at Jaguar Park.
Southern (2-3, 2-1 SWAC) had some early opportunities with two shots on goal and two corner kicks but the Lady Jaguars were unable to capitalize. UAPB (4-6, 1-6 SWAC) scored the first goal of the game at the 20:17 minute mark. SU found themselves trailing 1-0 at halftime.
In the second half the Lady Jaguars responded with Alayla Jackson goal at the 45:14 minute mark assisted by Cordney Armstrong and Krystal Elie tying the contest up 1-1. Nine minutes later SU took their first lead of the game 2-1, off Krystal Elie goal at the 54:07 minute mark.
The Lady Jaguars were able to get off 12 shots on goal against the Lady Lions, led by Faith Sparks who finished the game with four shots on goal, followed by Alayla Jackson and Krystal Elie each with two shots on goal. Goalie, Chioma Eriken finished with 11 saves for Southern.

The Lady Jaguars will be back in action on Thursday, April 1, when they host Jackson State at 4:00 pm at Jaguar Park.
