BATON ROUGE, LA. -- This week in Southern University Athletics - March 1-7, 2021.
The Southern Lady Jaguars tennis team, baseball team, men's and women's basketball track and field teams, men's and women's basketball teams and football will all be in action this week.
Lady Jaguars Tennis (1-4, 1-1 SWAC) host Nicholls state on Wednesday at 1:00 pm before they travel to Alabama A&M for a SWAC contest on Saturday with the Lady Bulldogs at 10:00 am.
The Jaguars Baseball team (1-5, 0-0 SWAC) is scheduled for their 2021 three-game series home opener starting on Friday when they host Grambling State at 6:00 pm. Saturday first pitch is slated for 5:00 pm and Sunday at 1:00 pm.
The Southern men's and women's basketball teams travel to Prairie View on Thursday for a 5:30 pm game time and men to follow. On Saturday they will travel to take on the Tigers of Texas Southern for a 5:30 pm tip-off in Houston, Texas. The Men will tip-off at 7:30 pm for their final regular season games of the 2021 season.
Outdoor Track and Field men's and women's teams will head to Clinton, Mississippi as they will compete in their first outdoor meet of the 2021 season at Mississippi College.
The Southern football team (1-0, 1-0 SWAC) will open its home schedule on Saturday. The Jaguars welcome University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Golden Lions for a 1:30 pm Southwestern Athletic Conference matchup in A.W. Mumford Stadium. The game will be televised on ESPN3. Saturday's game will be the first SU football game played in Baton Rouge in 483 days.
