Huntsville, AL.--The Southern University volleyball team (8-15,7-9) fall short against University of Pine Bluff (18-15,13-3) in the 2021 SWAC Volleyball Tournament hosted in the Elmore Gymnasium in Huntsville, Alabama. 
 
In set one the Jags were able to continuously score back against the Lions, only having a high 2-point difference in the very beginning, As the match went on, the Lions energy picked up with continuous kills against Southern. Lions went on to have a high 10-point lead, ending the set with a 25-15 score.
 
Set two was a huge struggle for Southern as they were only able to put seven points on the scoreboard. Four out of the seven points were accomplished by kills, while the other three were by attack errors and a service ace.
 
The Jags were able to redeem themselves in set three, in a close 25-22 final score. Xaria Taylor led the set with five kills followed by Joilyn Azore with four. In total, the Jags were able to finish the set with 15 kills to win.
 
The last and final set between the Jaguars and Lions ended with the Lions finishing strong, leaving the Jaguars with only one won set. With an 11-point difference, the Lions were able to defeat the Jags 25-16.
 
Taylor led the Jaguars with 11 kills followed by Azore with six and Brook Jefferson with five. Kyla Carrier played a big role helping assist 15 times through the match.
 
This game will conclude the 2021 Southern University Volleyball season.
