BATON ROUGE, LA-- Southern couldn't handle Prairie View second half surge, falling 48-21 on Homecoming night in front of a packed house at A. W. Mumford Stadium.
The Jags trail the Panthers 14-7 at the half off a eight yard touchdown run from senior quarterbackÂ
Ladarius Skelton. Prairie View takes advantage of a few miscues early in the third quarter taking a 21-7 lead over the Jaguars. Senior wide receiver Marquis McClain caught a 56 yard pass from Glendon McDaniel with 11:20 left in the third quarter.Â
Southerns' QBÂ
McDaniel finished the night going 14-of-22 for 114 yards and a score. Freshman running back Kobe Dillon led SU for the third straight games finishing with 56 yards off twelve carries. Devon Benn caried the ball 13 times for 46 yards while Skelton toted the rock seven time for 24 yards and two scores.Â
Defensively the Jaguars battles for four straight quarters led byÂ
Brian Jordan Jr. with 10 stops. Ray Anderson owned the middle of the field stopping the Panthers nine times,  one interception and a pass breakup. Chase Foster finished the night with seven tackles. Kennen Tate added six more tackles for the Jaguars defense.
The Panthers was led by Graduate transfer Jawon Pass finished the night going 19-of-27 for 280 yards and two TD passes. Lyndemian Brooks finished the night with 108 yards off 13 carries. On the defensive side of the ball Tre'Shaud Smith led all defenders with 13 tackles and one pass breakup.
UP NEXT
Southern will be back in action with a next week on Oct 30th as they host Alcorn State University at A.W. Mumford Stadium. The game is slated for a 6:05 kickoff on ESPN+.
