BATON ROUGE, LA -- The Southern men's basketball team will look to extend their three-game win streak as they travel to Huntsville, AL to face SWAC foe Alabama A&M Saturday at 2:00 pm in Elmore Gymnasium.
Southern (3-4, 3-0 SWAC) had six Jaguars scored in double figures led by junior
Samkelo Cele who recorded a career/season-high 18 points and seven rebounds on 15 minutes of play. Graduate transfer
Harrison Henderson chipped in 12 points and nine rebounds finishing one rebound shy of recording his third straight double-double. Junior
Jayden Saddler added 12 points, seven assist while redshirt senior
Lamarcus Lee contributed 12 points and seven rebounds. Redshirt senior
Ahsante Shivers finished with 10 points and five rebounds. Senior
Andre Allen finished with a career-high 10 points and 10 rebounds recording his first double-double in a SU uniform in the blowout 102-61 win over the Mississippi Valley State.

Damiree Burns (6-7, 210) averaging 11.0 ponts per game followed by junior
Jayden Saddler (6-1, 175) 10.5 points per game and redshirt senior
Ahsante Shivers with 10.5 points per game. Henderson leads the Jaguars in rebounds averaging 6.7 per contest (47) and Saddler leads in assist with 5.8 per game (28). Lee leads SU is steals with (11), Shivers leads in field goal attempts (61) and three point field goal attempts (31).

Alabama A&M (3-0, 1-0 SWAC) is coming off a home win on Saturday night vs Alabama State, 80-75 for their first SWAC win. Their previous four SWAC conference games were postponed due to Covid-19 protocols within the Bulldogs program. Alabama A&M was led by sophomore Garrett Hicks (6-0, 160) who finished with 12 points and five rebounds, sophomore EJ Williams (6-10, 275) finished with 12 points and nine rebounds. Freshman Dailin Smith (6-6, 185) added 11 points, seven rebounds and freshman Anjay Cortez (6-8, 185) finished with 11 points. AA&M shot 21-for-56 (37.5 percent) from the field for the game and 4-for-23 (17.4 percent) from 3 point range against the Hornets.
