GRAMBLING, LA -- Southern's fast start wasn't enough as the Jaguars came up short on the road against Grambling State 66-62 Saturday afternoon at the Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center.
Junior
Ahsante Shivers 16 points led Southern (9-14, 6-4 SWAC). Freshman
Damiree Burns added 14 points off the bench and four rebounds. Senior
Amel Kuljuhovic had a team high nine rebounds, followed by Senior
Darius Williams seven rebounds.
Southern built its largest lead in the first half up 13 points with 16:30 left to go in the half. SU went into the locker room with an 9 point lead, 38-29. The Jaguars had the lead for 28:46 of the game that had five lead changes and four ties. SU shot 35 percent for the game (22-for-62) and 37 percent from three-point range (7-19). The Jaguars shot 58 percent form free throw line (11-19).
