The Southern U. Lady Jaguars won the first set, but could not hold on for the victory, as the Southeastern Lady Lions rallied to a 27-29, 25-20, 25-13, 25-16 victory over on Thursday at the University Center on the Southeastern University campus.
Michelle Williams and Kirsten Buggage each led Southern with 11 kills while Jaquincia Williams added 10. Megan Gauthier led the Lady Jags with 40 assists while Lourena Beathely and Morgan Broussard had 13 digs apiece.
It is the second tough loss of the week for the Lady Jags, as SU dropped a thrilling five set match to conference foe, Texas Southern on Tuesday night in Seymour Gym on the Southern campus.
After racing out to an early lead winning the first set, TSU took control of the match in the middle sets, before SU rallied to force a fifth and deciding set.
Jaquincia Williams paced the Lady Jaguars with 13 kills, while Michele Williams added 12 kills. Megan Gauthier and Chanda Journet had 18 assists each, with Lourena Beathely leading SU with 17 digs.
The Lady Jaguars will travel to the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff on Tuesday for a 6:00 PM match.
